Dos Pueblos Little League

DPLL All Stars

(Updated April 2024)

2024 Dos Pueblos Little League All-Stars Information and Selection Process

The Little League All-Star tournament is a competitive postseason opportunity where All Star teams from each league compete for a District Championship and beyond. It is an opportunity for a higher level of play and competition within the regional Little League system.  At the end of the regular season, a select group of managers, coaches and players will be chosen to represent Dos Pueblos Little League.  Our intention is to field the strongest possible teams for each of our age divisions.  There will be invitations to an All Star tryout based on Invitation from the league.  The goal in assembling an All Star team is to choose the best TEAM of players; not simply the best players.

Participation in All Stars and representing DPLL is a privilege and honor.

The 7u, 8u and 9u Divisions will compete in one non-sanctioned District 63 tournament.

The 10u and 11u teams will compete in the District 63 sanctioned tournaments, with a chance to advance to the Section and State level tournaments.

The 12u,13u, and 14u divisions will compete in the District 63 sanctioned tournament, with a chance to advance to the Section, State, and the Little League World Series.

The published 2024 Calendar of dates for 10u-14u divisions can be found here:

Timeline for Selection of All Star players:

April 9th

DPLL Board posts the All Star selection process to the website and sends an email to the league with details, along with manager/coach application and commitment agreement for players and managers.

**Manager application due by April 14th at 11:59pm (see below)**

April 14th-April 24th

Potential managers and assistant coaches are observed, interviewed and then discussed by the DPLL All Star Committee.  A special board meeting will be called at the end of this window to vote and approve All Star managers for each age division.  All Star managers will be announced following the board meeting.

April 29th-May 3rd

A player nomination committee will determine who is invited to attend All Star evaluations. The nomination committee will include regular season managers of that age group, members of All Star Committee and the DPLL Player Agent. All Star players from the prior season will automatically be invited to participate in the evaluations.  It is suggested that up to 16 players will be invited to participate in this process.

May 4th

Invitations will be extended to players who were selected by the nomination committee to participate in division evaluation.  Players and family must review and sign the strict commitment policy prior to accepting an all star evaluation invitation.

May 15th

All Star evaluations may take place no sooner than May 15th per Little League rules.  Evaluations may consist of a skills competition and/or live game simulation.  Division All Star managers, assistant coaches and at least one member of the all star committee will be responsible for evaluating the players during this time.  This group of evaluators will meet, discuss and determine the final All Star Roster.  The goal is to form the strongest possible team for each age division, taking into account individual regular season and evaluation performance, along with past performance and known skill sets. A draft roster will then be presented to the All Star committee and reviewed prior to finalization.

Commitment to All-Stars:

All players league age 7-14 who have participated in a minimum of 8 regular season games and have met all of the Little League residency/eligibility requirements are eligible to play all stars..

Parents and/or Guardians must discuss with their player(s) the substantial commitment and responsibility to their teammates, coaches, Dos Pueblos Little League, and Little League International (LLI) if selected for All-Stars. Many players are interested in All-Stars, but only a few will be selected. The league invests a significant amount of time, money, and energy to sponsor the All-Star teams; therefore, the All-Star commitment truly extends to all players, families, and sponsors of the league. The league will require a $150 fee per player to participate in All-Stars if selected. Families or friends may request a scholarship for those players who may not be able to afford the $150 fee. All requests will be strictly confidential.

All-Star participation places a greater emphasis on competitiveness. Therefore, full attendance at All-Star practices and games is expected. Any planned absences or excessive absences must be disclosed prior to accepting an evaluation invitation.  Players/Parents must disclose any and all conflicts or potential conflicts with All-Star practices and games (i.e. vacations, other sports commitments, etc.) at the time of nomination. Player(s)/Parents must honestly assess their availability for all All-Star events and activities and note any date(s) or time(s) of player unavailability. Conflicts may be grounds for loss of All-Star eligibility so that DPLL All Stars is the priority during the postseason run.  Disclosed conflicts will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If known conflicts are not disclosed, that player may be removed from the All-Star team.

Players may lose playing time based on absences from All-Star practices. The league’s goal is to select fully committed players that understand the value and privilege of playing All-Stars. DPLL does recognize unforeseen circumstances (i.e. illness, injury,  family issues, etc.) will arise and will use common sense in these situations. Ultimately, it is up to parents to communicate clearly to the league and managers their intentions or issues that may arise concerning attendance.

Final Certification by Board

The DPLL Board will certify that the above process has been followed. The Board has the obligation to ensure that all managers, coaches and players selected fit within the DPLL community attributes of sportsmanship, attitude & leadership. The Board retains the discretion to change any player, manager and/or coach.
