DPLL All Stars

Participation in All Stars representing DPLL is a privilege and honor. The selection process is listed below. There will be invitations to an All Star tryout based on Player Voting and Invitation from the league. The All Star Manager will be the decision maker on who will be selected to the team. All Star applications will be sent out after the All Star tryouts. The goal in assembling an All Star team is to choose the best TEAM of players; not simply the best players.

All Star Candidate Selection Process

Juniors (14/13 year old) All Star Selection Process

·        All players from the Juniors Division will be invited to an All Star Tryout.

·        Player Selection- Manager chooses the team (normally 12-14 players) based upon the following three areas:

1.    regular season performance

2.    prior baseball experience, and

3.    player performance at the evaluation

12/11 year old All Star Player Selection Process

·        The Major Division players vote for twelve (12) players from a closed ballot of all players who played in the Major Division. The top 12 are invited to attend the All Star Tryout.

·        The All Star Manager chooses up to six (6) additional candidates to attend the All Star Tryout

·        Any player who was rostered on an All Star team last year is invited to the All Star Tryout in the current year, regardless of votes.

·        Player Selection- Manager chooses the team (normally 12-14 players) based upon the following three areas:

4.    regular season performance

5.    prior baseball experience, and

6.    player performance at the evaluation

NOTE:  Only those 11 year olds that will be considered impact players on the 12/11’s team should be chosen for the 12/11’s team.  If a determination for a substitution player is being made, the manager should choose a 12 year old to fill this spot when at all possible. (ie – 11 yr old players should not be rostered to the 12/11 year old unless the intent is for regular play.  A league age 11 year old who would be solely rostered as a substitution player should be first considered for the 11 year old team.)

11 year old All Star Player Selection Process

·        Manager is encouraged to choose those remaining 11 year old players not rostered to the 11/12’s team after current tryout.

·        At Manager’s discretion, an additional tryout may be held to include any additional eligible unrostered 11 year old major division players, which should include any player who was rostered as a 10 year old All Star in the previous year.

·        Player Selection- Manager chooses a team of league age 11 year olds (normally 12-14 players) based upon the following:

1.    regular season performance

2.    prior baseball experience, and

3.    player performance at the evaluation

10/9 year old All Star Player Selection Process

·        The Minor Division players vote for twelve (12) players from a closed ballot of eligible 10/9 year old players.  The top 12 are invited to attend the All Star Tryout, inclusive of any 10 year old that has played in the Major Division during the current season.

·        The All Star Manager chooses up to six (6) additional candidates to attend the All Star Tryout

·        Any player who was rostered on an All Star team last year is invited to the All Star Tryout in the current year, regardless of votes.

1.    regular season performance

2.    prior baseball experience, and

3.    player performance at the evaluation

NOTE:  Preference should generally be given to league age 10 year olds. When the 10 year old and 9 year old tournaments overlap, only those 9 year olds that will be considered impact players and have regular play on the 10/9’s team should be chosen for the 10/9’s team.
